Neighborhood Multipurpose Centers
Provider: CHILDREN'S COLLECTIVE INC - RITA WALTERS LEARNING COMPLEX
The agency provides family support services for low-income families in Los Angeles. Services include case management for low income families, child passenger safety education, and a neighborhood multipurpose center. Services are provided at two locations, the Family Source Center, and the Rita D. Walters Learning Complex site. Services are restricted to residents of SPA's 1, 2 and 3.
A collaborative effort called The Family Development Network helps attain economic/financial self sufficiency and general well-being. Services include a child safety seat distribution program, information and referral, family management, workshops, job training and placement, adult education, parent education, ESL, individual and family counseling, and personal financial management.
A special advocacy division focuses on at-risk youth to reduce criminal activity. First-time juvenile offenders are referred by LAPD to participate in after-school enrichment, counseling, substance abuse prevention and intervention, and mentoring. Parents are referred to attend a mandatory parenting class.
The child safety seat education program is restricted to residents of Supervisorial District I and includes a 2 hour workshop on car seat and child safety issues. Car seats are not provided.

Call for information or to apply. At-risk youth must be referred by LAPD to participate in the program. Walk in to the Rita D. Walters Learning Complex for service.

Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 7:00pm. The Rita D. Walters Learning Complex is open Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00 with extended evening and weekend hours as needed.
