Provider: CALIFORNIA SEX OFFENDER MANAGEMENT BOARD

This is a professional organization that serves as a state government advisory group on sex offender-related services. Its role in state government is to make recommendations to those who have the authority to set policies and determine practices for systems that manage sex offenders, to assist in setting standards and procedures, and to serve as a resource for state legislators and other policymakers. It does not provide direct services to the public.

The board has developed a list of standards and procedures in accordance with California State Penal Code Section 9003 (a), which states that all professionals who provide sex offender management programs and risk assessments, must be certified according to these standards.

The board maintains a website of information related to sex offenders and sex offender services in California. An online search tool is available to find treatment programs throughout California. The site also provides data and reports related to the state of sex offenders living in California.
