The agency provides K-12 education and adult educational services for people in Bell Gardens, the City of Commerce, Montebello, parts of Monterey Park, Pico Rivera, Rosemead and East Los Angeles. See the site list for special program locations.
The district administers 18 elementary schools, six intermediate schools, three senior high schools and one continuation high school. Special education programs for children who have disabilities are available as is a program on the Montebello and Bell Gardens High School campuses for pregnant teens and are in grades 7 to 12. In addition, the district offers ESL and citizenship classes and a Head Start Program. See the separate entry.
In addition, the district operates two child care centers serving children 2 weeks to 3 years of age, for teen parents attending the comprehensive high school or adult school. There is no cost to the adolescent parent, however s/he is required to attend a job training course such as those offered through the Regional Occupational Program, in addition to obtaining high school graduation requirements. Applications are available at the centers, which are located at Montebello High School and Bell Gardens High School.
