Juvenile Traffic Courts

This state trial court is an L A County Superior Court with jurisdiction over civil, criminal, small claims and adult and juvenile traffic cases in Chatsworth. There are no geographic restrictions; however, the court only hears small claims cases within their jurisdiction.  

The superior court has jurisdiction in civil cases which involve less than $25,000. It has jurisdiction in criminal cases which misdemeanor offenses which are punishable by a fine or less than 12 months imprisonment in County jails, or both; in violations of law and ordinances such as theft, vagrancy and traffic offenses; and it conducts preliminary hearings for felony offenses such as murder, arson and burglary.
