Specialized Information and Referral (Older Adults)

Provider: HEALTHCARE AND ELDER LAW PROGRAMS

The program provides services for older adults age 50 and older and their family and friends who live in Los Angeles County. Services include, specialized information and referral and workshops. The program does not provide direct legal representation, personal legal advice or funding. There are no geographic restrictions.

   Workshops include free classes conducted by staff members, and guest speakers and are open to anyone. Topics include, aging preparedness, staying in charge of your medical care and finances, caregiving stages, choosing an emergency alert system. dementia care; elder care and residential placement options, fall prevention and home modification, hoarding and mental health, hospice care, medication management, paying for long-term care, senior scam awareness, stress reduction, and other consumer issues impacting older adults. Mini classes may be arranged for community members, and groups of 25 or more. Presentations and resources are available to community groups, churches, and governmental entities for health and resource fairs.

    A free 30-minute presentation regarding issues that impact older adults; and services available to older adults and their families may be arranged.
