The agency regulates and investigates charitable fund raising and oversees charitable bingo games. It issues information cards to authenticate door to door, telephone and mail solicitations by bona fide charitable agencies. It also accepts complaints about local as well as national charitable organizations and provides verification of organizations that are registered to solicit charitable donations in the city.

The agency provides permits for businesses regulated through police permits, including adult entertainment, ammunition sales, arcade games, bingo, charitable organizations, bowling, carnivals, close-out/fire sales, dancing (dancing clubs, dancing academies/schools), escorts, firearms sales, internet cafes, key duplication, live entertainment, massage, mechanical rides, movie theaters, parking lots, pool tables, rummage sales, secondhand (general, books, auto parts, jewelry, antiques), tow truck drivers, towing, and valet.

The commission monitors towing services within the city. A non-ER hotline is available to provide information and accept complaints.
