Community Safe Places

Provider: CITY OF LONG BEACH POLICE DEPARTMENT

The department maintains four Community Police Centers to provide community services to Long Beach residents. Services include abandoned vehicle reporting/removal, building code violations reporting, child fingerprinting, child passenger safety seats, language translation and youth community service programs. Services are restricted to the City of Long Beach.

The department also provides crime reporting, educational workshops, meeting room facilities for neighborhood projects, requests for police reports and other outreach, safety, and neighborhood services as needed.

The downtown station acts as a Safe Youth Zone for youth fleeing from a bully, home, or are victims of sex trafficking.

The child car seat safety program is sponsored by the city Neighborhood Services Bureau, and by the federal Office of Transportation Services. Parents are required to attend a one and one-half hour workshop outlining child and car seat safety. The participants must be low-income residents of Long Beach. Pregnant women in their third trimester may also apply for the car seat. An official application may be filled out at one of the four Community Police Centers.
