Crime Victim Compensation

The California Victim Compensation Board (CalVCB) administers the Victim Compensation Program. There are no geographic restrictions.

The Victim Compensation Program provides reimbursement for crime-related expenses to eligible victims who suffer physical injury or the threat of physical injury as a result of a violent crime.

Expenses that may be reimbursed to victims and their families include wage/support loss, medical expenses, mental health counseling, and funeral/burial expenses not covered by other reimbursement sources.

CalVCB also administers the Restitution Recovery Program, Claims of Erroneously Convicted Felons, the Good Samaritan Program and the Missing Children Reward Program. CalVCB is housed under the Government Operations Agency.
