Developmental Disabilities Behavior Management Programs

The agency provides services for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities who live in Los Angeles County. Services include developmental disabilities behavior management programs; individual, family and group counseling; inclusive preschool; parent counseling; psychiatric medication monitoring and wraparound facilitation/community support. The agency provides community support for children and youth to age 21. Some of the agency's programs are targeted, but not restricted, to people from the Spanish-speaking community. There are no geographic restrictions.

The program also provides support groups for parents and families/friends of people who have special needs. The program helps clients and their families adjust. The agency also operates an inclusive preschool for children, 4 years of age, which includes children with special needs and developmental delays. The preschool is located at the Centro Estrella site in East Los Angeles.

The agency also offers field based and intensive mental health programs (Full Service Partnership for Children and Transitional Aged Youth, Therapeutic Behavioral Services -TBS and Wraparound for youth in SPA 7, as well as Field Capable Clinical Services for all ages). Wraparound is conducted by a multi-displinary team consisting of a facilitator, a Child and Family Specialist, a therapist and a Parent Partner. Sessions are conducted in the home or a community setting, supporting the youth and family. The program accepts youth from age 8 to 18, and may continue for one year or longer. The service area is L A County SPA 7.

Alma's Centro Estrella location in East Los Angeles also includes Community Integration Training and Socialization Training programs for Regional Center consumers. This location also includes a specialized aquatics program for all ages.
