AIDS/HIV/STD Prevention Supplies

Provider: KAISER PERMANENTE - BALDWIN PARK MEDICAL CENTER

The medical centers provide HIV/AIDS services for people of all ages in Los Angeles County. Services include clinical trials for HIV infections; AIDS drug assistance programs and HIV/AIDS/STD prevention kits. Services are restricted to people who are Kaiser Permanente Health Plan members through their employer or through an individual insurance plan. There are no geographic restrictions.

The center offers the HIV/AIDS Pep/PrEP program that provides emergency post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) treatment for people who have had a high risk exposure to HIV/AIDS, and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) treatment for people who have high-risk HIV/AIDS exposure. PEP treatment includes a 28 day course of antiretroviral medication, usually in pill form. Treatment must start within 72 hours of exposure. PrEP includes a daily medication to reduce the risk of HIV infection.

The center enrolls its own patients for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), which provides FDA-approved HIV-related drugs at little or no cost to those who are eligible and also dispenses the drugs to patients; call for more information. The center also conducts HIV medical trials for members of the Kaiser community.
