Lifelong Learning Programs

The university provides post-secondary education for people in Los Angeles County. Services include an open university program, extended education, online courses, English as a Second Language, as well as academic programs leading to baccalaureate and post-baccalaureate degrees. There are no geographic restrictions.

Open University allows adults to enroll in university level courses without formal admission to the University. Professional certificate programs are provided in many areas, including Accounting, Advanced Information Systems, Alcohol and Drug Problems Specialist, Alternative Nutrition, Applied Gerontology, Biotechnology, Child Maltreatment and Family Violence, Computer Programming, Entrepreneurship, Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, Finance, Fire Protection Risk Analysis and Reduction, Fire Service Administration, General Management, Human Resources Management, Intercultural Proficiency, International Business, International Business Communication, International Economic Relations, Labor Relations, Manufacturing, Marketing, Nursing Education, Operations Management, Parent Educator, Retail Professional Development, Sports Nutrition, Transportation (Commercial), Urban Land Use and Property Analysis and Youth Agency Administration.

Extended Education provides courses in English Language, Accounting, Arts and Humanities, Computers, Education and Legal Studies. Online courses cover a broad range of subjects including business, computers, music, art, English, science and math.

The English Language Program (ELP) provides English as a Second Language instruction as a full five days per week/ ten week program. Seven levels of ESL instruction are provided, including conversation, reading, writing, grammar, listening and pronunciation; it includes an intensive college preparatory section.
