Behavior Modification
Provider: AVIVA FAMILY AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES - OUTPATIENT COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH
The agency provides counseling for children and young adults age 21 and younger who live in Los Angeles County. Services include adolescent/youth counseling, behavior modification, child guidance, child abuse prevention, family counseling, parent child interactive therapy and wraparound facilitation/community support. Age restrictions apply; there are no geographic restrictions.
Outpatient mental health services include individual and family counseling for children and young adults who have emotional or behavioral problems and their families. The agency provides school-based counseling for local school districts; Wraparound services for DCFS-referred children who require multi-disciplinary therapies and services; Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS): Gang Intervention and programs for youth referred through the Juvenile Justice Program (JJP) and Probation Department.
The agency also offers infant and early childhood mental health services for children age birth to 5, including parent child interactive therapy.
The Wraparound facilitation/community support program is provided for youth in probation or in DCFS child abuse programs. Wraparound is conducted by a multi-disciplinary team consisting of a social worker case manager, a therapist and a parent partner. Sessions are conducted in the home and may involve just the child or the whole family as needed. The program accepts youth from age 8 to 18, and may continue for one year or longer. The service area is SPAs 2 and 4.
