Smoking/Vaping Cessation

The program provides substance use disorder services related to tobacco cessation services for adults and youth, age 14 and older in California. Services include smoking/vaping cessation and smoking education/prevention. There are no geographic restrictions.

  The helpline offers telephone counseling, text messaging support, online help, mobile apps, self-help materials and referral to local programs.

  The program also provides specialized services for pregnant women, teens, and chewing tobacco users. A free nicotine patch program is available for eligible individuals who have Medi-Cal and live with children ages five and under.  

  One-on-one telephone counseling with a trained counselor who can assist with developing a quitting plan, is available in multiple languages for adolescents, pregnant smokers, adult smokers and smokeless tobacco users. Text messaging provides extra support through daily texts during the first weeks of quitting. Questions can be sent at any time and a counselor will respond within one business day.
