Name Change Assistance
Provider: LOS ANGELES COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT - SOUTHEAST DISTRICT - NORWALK
This state trial court is an L A County Superior Court with jurisdiction over civil, criminal, and municipal cases in Norwalk. Name change and temporary restraining order filing assistance is also provided. Small claims and traffic cases are heard by the L A County Superior Court - Southeast District - Downey court. There are no geographic restrictions.
This court has limited jurisdiction over civil cases involving no more than $25,000. It also has jurisdiction over criminal cases which involve felony offenses that are punishable by imprisonment in county jails, or both; in violations of laws such as theft, traffic offenses and vagrancy; and conducts preliminary hearings for felony offenses such as arson, burglary and murder.
The Conciliation court handles divorce cases, conciliation and mediation.
