Interest Free Loans

The agency provides services for air force personnel, their spouse and/or dependents in the United States. Services include interest free loans/grants, scholarships and temporary financial assistance. There are no geographic restrictions.

The agency provides emergency assistance in the form of a grant, interest free loan or both. Loans/Grants are for active duty Air Force personnel, their spouse (with Power of Attorney), or dependent child; Air Force member must be stationed at an Air Force base with an Airman and Family Readiness Center. Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard personnel activated on Title 10 orders for more than 15 days at the time of application are eligible. The standard emergency loan/grant requires documentation and the amount of the loan varies; the Falcon loan cannot exceed $1,000 and requires little documentation, it can be used for emergency needs such as basic living expenses, car repairs, emergency travel, or other approved need. All loans are done on a case by case basis.

Scholarship services include a Merit Grant and a Henry H. Arnold Education grant program. The programs are offered to eligible dependents of active duty or retired Air Force/Reserve personnel and vary in amounts. Applicant must be a high school graduate accepted/enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at a college, university or trade/vocational school. Selection for grants are based on cumulative GPA, SAT/ACT scores, transcripts, extracurricular activities and an essay on a specific topic. An Education Loan Program is also available and open only to dependents who applied for the Henry H. Arnold grant. A loan of up to $1000 is given to eligible dependents regardless of whether or not they received an education scholarship/grant.
