Volunteer Recruitment/Placement

The center provides volunteer opportunities for people 11 years and older who live in the San Gabriel Valley. Services include substance abuse prevention/treatment volunteer opportunities and volunteer recruitment/placement. There are no geographic restrictions.
The volunteer recruitment/placement program assesses the volunteers interests, expertise and available hours and places her or him in an appropriate public or private, non-profit community agency. Agencies which wish to recruit volunteers to use in their programs may call the center and place a request. Volunteer opportunities may include crisis intervention volunteer opportunities, domestic violence volunteer opportunities, mentoring volunteer opportunities, recreational activities volunteer opportunities, and substance abuse prevention/treatment volunteer opportunities.
The agency can connect volunteers who wish to assist people in crisis to the Red Cross, alcohol and drug abuse programs, family centers, battered women programs and teen crisis intervention programs. Volunteers who wish to help children will be connected to the YMCA/YWCA, Boys' and Girls' Clubs, sports programs, group homes, Head Start programs and Big Brother/Big Sister programs. Volunteers who wish to assist with education will be connected to literacy programs, adult education programs and mentoring programs. Volunteers who wish to assist with health programs will be connected to HIV/AIDS prevention programs, hospitals, programs that deal with the developmentally disabled, hospice care programs, senior centers and convalescent homes. Volunteers who wish to work in community service and government can be connected to programs that deal with the homeless, low income housing, armed forces, law enforcement agencies and religious organizations.
Volunteers must fill out an application. The agency will connect volunteers to agencies. This agency does not screen eligibility requirements, complete background checks or provide training.
