Mental Health Related Support Groups (Families/Friends of Mentally Ill)

The agency provides mental health related support groups targeted to families/friends in Los Angeles County. There are no fees for services.

The NAMI Family Support Group is a free, confidential peer-led support group for adults with a loved one who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Groups cover topics including challenges and successes experienced by individuals and families living with a mental health condition.

NAMI’s support groups do not endorse any specific medical therapy or treatment and follow a structured model to ensure everyone has an opportunity to share their experiences. Groups are approximately 60-90 minutes long and meet weekly, every other week or monthly. Groups are also offered in Spanish as NAMI Grupo de Apoyo para Familiares, and in Japanese at select region chapters. Additional groups are available for the LGBTQ+ community and faith-based communities at select region chapters.
