Parent Support Groups (Fathers)
Provider: FAMILIES UNITING FAMILIES
The agency provides family life education services for fathers in Los Angeles County. Services include parenting skills classes and parent support groups. There are no geographic restrictions.
Parenting skills classes, developed for Project Fatherhood, include topics on effective parenting, child development, positive discipline, effective communication, positive decision-making, anger management, healthy living, and identifying and accessing local support services.
Workshops can target fathers and sons, families or fathers only, depending on the topic.
"Men in Relationships" support groups are also part of the overall program, and are facilitated by trained, professionally licensed therapists and social workers. Child care is provided for some meetings and support groups; inquire about the availability of child care when applying for the program.
