The Division of HIV and STD Programs provides health services related to HIV and STD education, prevention, and treatment to people in Los Angeles County. Services include AIDS/HIV control, sexually transmitted disease control, specialized information and referral to HIV/AIDS and STD service providers in L A County and program development for AIDS/HIV and STD prevention and treatment. There are no geographic restrictions.
The Divison of HIV and STD Programs (DHSP) is responsible for coordinating the overall response to HIV/STD infections in the County, including disease surveillance, field investigation, prevention and treatment programming, and monitoring and evaluation. The Division is charged with preventing and controlling the spread of HIV/STD infections utilizing epidemiologic and surveillance systems; coordinated care and treatment services; and public, private, and community partnerships.
DHSP administers the HIV/AIDS Pep/PrEP program that provides emergency post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) treatment for people who have had a high risk exposure to HIV/AIDS, and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) treatment for people who have high-risk HIV/AIDS exposure. The county operates a PEP/PrEP warmline; however, services are provided through participating community clinics.
