Disaster/Emergency Services Volunteer Opportunities

The agency provides volunteer opportunities for people living in the Santa Clarita Valley. Opportunities include clerical volunteer opportunities, disaster relief services volunteer opportunities, information and referral volunteer opportunities and writing/editing volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.
Clerical volunteers provide office support by answering telephones, entering computer data and filing. Clerical volunteers also provide intake services by registering clients for agency services.
After disasters, the agency's disaster relief services volunteers works closely with Los Angeles county to provide some post-disaster services.
Information and referral volunteers provide community resource information to agency clients.
Writing/editing volunteers support the agency by writing public relations materials and press releases.
The agency does provide post-disaster.
The agency provides on-the-job training for each individual volunteers. Volunteers are not asked to participate in any extended pre-volunteer training program. Volunteers are supervised by the agency director. Volunteers are not asked to take or pass any tests or incur any fees. The agency does complete criminal background checks and sex offenders are excluded from volunteering. Volunteers must be 18 years of age, or have a work permit. The agency does not required volunteers to commit to a set length of service or number of hours. Potential volunteers are not asked to complete a written application, however, they are asked to submit to an interview with the agency director.
Public Speaking volunteers represent the agency. LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH The agency seeks volunteers who primarily speak English or Spanish, but will accept volunteers who speak any language.
