Remembering Georgia Sales

This month, we mourn the loss of Georgia Sales, a pioneer in the Information and Referral field whose work transformed how people access help across North America.

211 Day 2026 Marks 45 Years of Service to Los Angeles County

On February 11th, 211 LA celebrated 45 years of giving hope to residents of Los Angeles County during their time of need, with over 29 million calls since 1981. To mark the milestone, 211 LA hosted 211 Day at the Elks Lodge in Pasadena, where state and local leaders honored the organization for its community service.

Honoring Wildfire Survivors One Year Later

On January 20th, 2025, 211 LA hosted Infrastructure of Care, a gathering dedicated to reflecting on the recovery efforts following the LA wildfires and honoring the partnerships that were made during and after.

211 LA and Airbnb.org Provide Emergency Housing Support Following Bell Gardens Explosion

211 LA is partnering with Airbnb.org to arrange free temporary housing for residents displaced by the January 28, 2026 explosion at a four unit apartment building in Bell Gardens. Impacted residents are encouraged to dial 2-1-1 for immediate and ongoing support.

From Crisis to Care is a new short film by 211 LA spotlighting Altadena families impacted by the 2025 Los Angeles Wildfires and the power of partnership when turning crisis into care.

Airbnb.org and 211 LA announce disaster response partnership

211 LA and Airbnb.org have formalized a disaster response partnership to rapidly mobilize free emergency housing for people displaced by disasters across Los Angeles County. After working together throughout the January 2025 wildfires to help nearly 24,000 people access temporary housing, the organizations have signed an MOU to strengthen coordination and enable housing support within 24 hours of a disaster. Airbnb.org is also committing $100,000 in housing credits to help 211 LA provide free emergency housing throughout 2026.
