211 LA remains activated and on the ground in response to the Lineage warehouse fire and ammonia leak in Boyle Heights. Since the Los Angeles County Office of Emergency Management activated 211 LA on June 19, our team has worked every day, and continues to work right now, to meet the needs of residents affected by the fire, smoke, fumes, and displacement.

Drawing on our experience responding to the Los Angeles wildfires, 211 LA continues to connect impacted residents to emergency support, trusted information, and critical resources in real time.

Crisis Care Plan in Alliance Partnership in Action

Through Airbnb.org, a partner in 211 LA's Crisis Care Plan Alliance, 211 LA continues to connect households to emergency housing as the cleanup process continues. On July 13, Airbnb.org announced an additional $1 million commitment to extend free emergency housing through the ongoing debris cleanup, on top of the $600,000 already committed.

To date, 249 households have received Airbnb.org placements, representing 1,144 people and 240 pets.

Anthony Romero - Strategic Partnerships Manager

This partnership in action now has a new leader driving it forward. 211 LA is glad to welcome Anthony Romero to the team as Strategic Partnerships Manager. Anthony is an LA native with over 5 years of experience in housing and social services. As Strategic Partnerships Manager, he will be responsible for elevating the Crisis Care Plan Alliance by cultivating strategic partnerships, aligning community resources, and fostering collaboration among service providers, including our work with Airbnb.org. To learn more about CCPA, please email your partnership inquiry to partnerships@211la.org.

Who is eligible

This assistance is available to households living within the impacted area. To make sure resources reach residents directly affected by the fire, 211 LA must verify that applicants live within the identified impacted area. This verification step confirms eligibility and helps prioritize temporary housing support for households affected by the incident.

How the process works

Residents can call our dedicated support team at 626-406-2786 for assistance, which is available 7 days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m, or visit our team at a community outreach event, or visit 211LA.org to learn more.

The first step is an initial assessment, during which our team verifies eligibility, understands the household's needs, and determines the next steps. Once eligibility is confirmed, 211 LA can guide residents through setting up an Airbnb account, if needed, and help book temporary housing. At in-person outreach events, eligible residents may complete the assessment and secure a placement the same day.

Our team is on-site this week

211 LA's outreach team continues direct, in-person work in the neighborhoods closest to the Lineage warehouse.

On July 9, the team participated in the Boyle Heights town hall, meeting directly with residents to conduct intake and assessment to start the process of booking eligible households into emergency housing through Airbnb.

This week, the team is on-site at multiple locations. On Monday, July 13, staff were at the County's Community Resource Center at the East LA Library and at a Boyle Heights outreach event hosted by the City of Los Angeles, running from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm at 3701 Union Pacific Ave.

211 LA will continue to be on-site for the rest of the week, including at the City's site at Lou Costello Jr. Recreation Center, ensuring residents have direct in-person access to information and support.

Delivering food and air purifiers to 265 families affected by the fire

Thanks to a gift from Kaiser Permanente, 211 LA has provided food gift cards to families impacted by the fire, working alongside Eastmont Community Center, Legacy LA, and Council District 14 to get that support directly into the hands of families who need it. That same partnership is helping deliver air purifiers to 265 households, so families can breathe easier as the community recovers.

On Friday, June 26, 211 LA staff supported a distribution event hosted by Los Angeles City Council District 14 and Councilmember Ysabel Jurado, helping distribute food gift cards along with air purifiers and filters to protect residents' health at home.

This response continues, and so does the need

This is not a response that has ended. Families in Boyle Heights and East LA are still navigating displacement, cleanup, and recovery, and 211 LA remains on the ground to meet those needs. Your support can help. Click the donate button below to help provide masks, air purifiers, filters, and other critical supplies to those affected.
