We’re honored to announce that 211 LA has received its second Gold Telly Award for video storytelling, recognized for From Crisis to Care, created in partnership with Art Simon Productions.
Our first Gold Telly Award recognized the story of Iraq War Veteran Lewis Jackson. This second award reflects our commitment to sharing the stories of Angelenos and the people and partnerships that help communities navigate crises.
The recognition comes at a particularly timely moment. Once again, 211 LA is serving as a first responder for a community impacted by disaster, this time supporting residents affected by the Lineage warehouse fire and ammonia leak in Boyle Heights. Our teams continue working alongside community partners to connect affected residents with temporary housing, food assistance, emergency supplies, and other recovery resources.
From Crisis to Care highlights 211 LA’s role as LA County’s disaster hotline and 24/7 information and referral service provider during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires. But people were at the center of that response. Families who lost homes, belongings, routines, and a sense of security suddenly had to navigate uncertainty and make difficult decisions about what came next.
For many, calling 2-1-1 was the first step toward finding help. Our compassionate care coordinators worked directly with households to understand what they were going through, listen to their concerns, and connect them with the resources that best fit their needs. They helped families navigate temporary housing, food assistance, emergency supplies, and other services while providing support throughout their recovery journey.
This work was about more than connecting people to a resource. It was about meeting people where they were, offering reassurance during an overwhelming time, and helping them feel less alone as they began rebuilding.
Our wildfire response demonstrated the importance of being prepared to mobilize quickly when communities need us most. Behind every call was a team working around the clock to assess needs, coordinate care, and help people take their next steps forward.
None of this would be possible without the support of our Crisis Care Partnership Alliance (CCPA) partners, including Airbnb.org. The CCPA brings together nonprofit organizations, government agencies, philanthropic organizations, and corporate partners to strengthen disaster response and help communities access coordinated support. By working across sectors, partners can help address the immediate and evolving needs of households impacted by disaster.
The award also reminds us that disaster response is not a one-time effort. Communities need trusted systems of care that are prepared to respond, adapt, and remain present throughout recovery. From the 2025 wildfires to the ongoing response in Boyle Heights, 211 LA continues to be there when Angelenos need help.
