Child Care Instruction

Provider: HOPE STREET FAMILY CENTER

The program provides education services for low-income or homeless families living near the California Hospital Medical Center neighborhood. Services include child care, child care instruction, and family literacy programs. Age, income, geographic restrictions, and other eligibility restrictions apply.

Child care is provided on-site at the Child Development Center, a licensed child care facility that serves children from age 6 weeks to 5 years of age. The program also sponsors an Early Childhood Center at Angelica Lutheran Church for infants, toddlers and pre-school age children to age 5.

The Family Childcare Network provides family home child care for children 0 to 5 years. The Hope Street Family Center provides child care instruction and technical assistance so that interested people may start their own child care business and become licensed providers.

The center's Family Literacy Program is conducted in collaboration with LAUSD Central Adult School. Literacy instruction is combined with early childhood instruction, parenting and adult education, targeted to Hispanic/Latino families. Interactive literacy instruction is conducted in the children's classroom in the Child Development Center. The program serves families with children from 0 - 5 years of age.
