Computer Literacy Volunteer Opportunities

The agency provides volunteer opportunities for people who are at least 16 years of age and who live in La Mirada. The agency's volunteer program recruits and places volunteers throughout the community. Services include clerical volunteer opportunities, computer literacy volunteer opportunities and receptionist volunteer opportunities. Volunteer opportunities are open to all residents of Los Angeles County, however, agency services are restricted to residents of La Mirada.

The agency recruits and places volunteers into many positions throughout the community. Possible volunteer opportunity areas include computer center assistant, facility greeters, recreation program assistants, home repair and yard projects, Neighborhood Watch, scorekeepers, SeniorNet computer lab, reading programs, special city events, theater ushers, youth sports coaches, and numerous other.

The agency provides on the job training. If needed, volunteers may receive some computer training. Volunteers are not required to take any tests. Volunteers must possess some form of government issue identification and submit to fingerprint clearance.

There is a volunteer Leaders in Training class for youth 13 to 17. There is also a Volunteers in Action program for individuals 18 years and older. LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH Volunteers are not required to speak any language other than English. The agency does seek bilingual volunteers.
