Discounted Telephone Service
Provider: CALIFORNIA STATE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION - CALIFORNIA TELECONNECT FUND
The California Teleconnect Fund (CTF) program provides a discount on select communications services to eligible schools, libraries, hospitals and non-profit organizations in California. Services include discounted internet services for agencies/organizations as recipients, discounted telephone service for agencies/organizations as recipients, discounted internet services for non-profits and discounted telephone service for non-profits. There are no geographic restrictions.
The program provides a 50 per cent discount on advanced communication services to eligible agencies. Eligible agencies include nonprofit organizations providing services such as educational services, job placement and/or training, 211 referral services, computer and internet training and health care; government owned and operated hospitals and health clinics; K-12 public and nonprofit private schools; community colleges; and libraries.
The communication services that are eligible are T-1 and T-3 lines; cable internet; Digital Subscriber Line (DSL); wireless internet (data plans, wireless internet cards); and dial-up.
The agency downloads an application and sends the application and required documents to be approved by the CPUC (California Public Utilities Commission). When the agency is approved, the agency notifies their service provider before the discount can be applied to the bill.
