Dental Associations
Provider: SAN GABRIEL VALLEY DENTAL SOCIETY
The society is a professional membership organization that provides dental services for the public and for its member dentists. Services include a dental association. The society serves people of all ages who live or work in the San Gabriel Valley.
Dentists who wish to be included in the referral list must be state-licensed, must be members of the California Dental Association; pay annual membership dues; and abide by the ethics and standards set by the society. Concerns or complaints about member dentist are reviewed and appropriate action is taken, if warranted. The referral list is updated on a regular basis.
The society provides community education through literature, a speaker's bureau, health fairs and encourages dental care for children through the school-based screenings. Dentists who participate in the Senior-Dent program and work with low-income seniors age 60 and older and offer services at reduced rates. The program can also refer people who have disabilities including mental retardation to dentists who have experience with and sensitivity to the person's special needs. It sets and promotes standards of practice and ethics for dentists which exceed those required by law, and stresses the need for continuing professional education for members.
