Patient Support Volunteer Opportunities

Provider: SHRINERS FOR CHILDREN MEDICAL CENTER

The agency provides volunteer opportunities to individuals age 17 and older, throughout the southwestern United States. Volunteer opportunities include all health care volunteer opportunities and patient support volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.

The agency will make every effort to assign volunteers to the areas that interest that volunteers interests; however, hospital needs, volunteers skills and department availability will also be taken into consideration. After time, volunteers may change departments to try something new and learn new skills. All reassignments are coordinated through the Volunteer Department.

Volunteers must be at least 17 years of age. If under 21, volunteers need to provide proof of age in the form of a current driver's license, passport, birth certificate, or school ID.

All volunteers must attend a two-hour New Volunteer Orientation that include a hospital tour, a description of hospital policies and procedures, disaster preparedness, and the agency's volunteer rules. Once volunteers are formally accepted into the volunteer program, volunteers must sign a Volunteer Agreement and a Commitment and Confidentiality Agreement. Volunteers must agree to always wear a volunteer ID Badge, call hospital staff if they will miss a scheduled volunteer time, adhere to their schedule and adhere to the agency dress code.
