Illegal Dumping Reporting

Provider: CALIFORNIA STATE DEPARTMENT OF TOXIC SUBSTANCES CONTROL - CHATSWORTH OFFICE

The agency provides conservation services in the state of California. Services include hazardous waste control and illegal dumping reporting. There are no geographic restrictions.

The hotline accepts reports of suspected or confirmed violations of hazardous waste handling regulations from anyone on an identified or anonymous basis. Violations may occur in the workplace or may involve illegal storage, treatment, disposal, or transportation into the outside environment. There are no geographic restrictions.

The agency takes detailed reports by phone which it then investigates or refers to the appropriate agency. If an investigation confirms a violation of the California Hazardous Waste Control Law and penalties are collected, the reporting party may be eligible for a reward.

In the case of an emergency which involves toxic waste dumping or spillage that presents a threat to health and safety and requires immediate action, call 911 first, then the hotline. Instances that involve vehicles should also be reported to local law enforcement.
