Nutrition Education (Children)

The program provides weight management for overweight youth ages three to 16 and their families in Los Angeles. Services include nutrition education, wellness programs and weight management programs for youth who meet the medical guidelines defining obesity. The 6-week program is offered several times per year. Age restrictions apply; there are no geographic restrictions.

Kids N Fitness for youth ages 8 to 16 and Kids N Fitness Junior for youth ages 3 to 7 are interactive weight management programs. The program provides nutrition education, games, strength training and self-monitoring techniques. Families learn about healthy cooking, how to read nutrition labels and how to order healthy foods at restaurants. Parents attend education classes which focus on support strategies, while youth participate in exercise sessions.

Because this program is a research study, additional procedures or requirements may be requested to comply with study guidelines.
