Juvenile Detention Facilities

The agency provides correctional programs for detained youth juveniles in Los Angeles County. Services include juvenile detention facilities and prisoner locator services. There are no geographic restrictions.

This bureau administers the facilities which provide temporary detention services for juveniles who have come to the attention of the juvenile justice system because of delinquent behavior. The facilities provide secure custody as well as education, health, mental health, and nutrition services for youth pending a court hearing or until the minor is placed in a foster home program; a camp, school or private institution; California Youth Authority; State Prison; or is released home.

Law enforcement agencies are assigned to the different Juvenile Halls however; they are not selected by area. The Central Juvenile Hall serves the central and northeast areas of the county, Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall serves the southeast area of the county and Barry J. Nidorf Juvenile Hall serves the northwest and western areas of the county.
