Transitional Housing/Shelter
Provider: BRIDGE OF FAITH - HOME
The agency provides transitional shelter for female former foster youth and at risk women in the Whittier area. Services include a drop-in center, supervised living for older youth, and a transitional shelter. Services are provided at three locations. There are no age or geographic restrictions.
The drop-in center within the thrift store provides awareness and education about issues relating to former foster youth; participants may also receive on-site life skills training.
The 22-room residential home offers a safe environment for women who are transitioning out of foster care or who are homeless. One residential home can accommodate mothers with one child in a shared living environment. Services for residents includes mentors, professional therapy, drug and alcohol counseling, life skills training, and employment assistance. There are no time limits and women may return as space permits.
All residents are encouraged to volunteer in community activities. On site activities include an exercise room, music room, craft room, social activities and cooking lessons.
