Specialized Information and Referral

The program provides gang programs in the San Fernando Valley area of the City of Los Angeles. Services are targeted to at risk youth and young adult gang members, ages 15 to 35. Services include crisis intervention, gang programs, gang mediation services and specialized information and referral to services for gang members. The service area includes the cities of Canoga Park, Lake View Terrace, Mission Hills, North Hills, North Hollywood, Northridge, Pacoima, Panorama City, San Fernando Valley, Sun Valley and Sylmar.

The gang violence intervention program is comprised of a team of professionally trained mediation specialists. The team travels to the site of the potential gang conflict and mediates for a truce, acts to quell rumors, or provides other interventions to prevent violence.

The agency also conducts ongoing gang programs to increase communication and lessen tension between gangs. It sponsors events such as soccer, football or softball games; excursions; and neighborhood events.

The gang referral program provides referrals to services for gang members such as counseling, job training, health care, mentoring programs, and tattoo removal.
