Youth Shelters

Provider: WAYMAKERS

The agency provides shelter for homeless and runaway youth, age 11 to 17, primarily in Orange County; however, in some circumstances, at-risk youth from Los Angeles County are accepted. Services include a runaway/youth shelter. Youth stay from 14 to 21 days in the shelter. The shelter provides counseling and reunification services for youth who are in crisis situations; usually trying to escape abuse and family violence. The shelter services are designed to prevent homelessness, institutionalization, or hospitalization while providing individual and family counseling, tutoring, prevention education and life skills activities. Aftercare often includes connection with a volunteer mentor, ongoing parenting classes for at-risk families, and counseling for the youth.
