Medical Information Services (Genetic Disorders)

Provider: GENETIC AND RARE DISEASES INFORMATION CENTER

The program provides health information related to genetic diseases for people of all ages nationwide. Services include disease/disability information about genetic and/or rare diseases, internet information resources, and medical information lines. There are no geographic restrictions.

The program has a telephone information line where people can call and speak to an experienced information specialists who can furnish current and accurate information in both English and Spanish about genetic and rare diseases.

The online resources include information on specific genetic diseases, clinical research and trials and assessments on the risks involved with screening and testing for genetic diseases. Printed resources also include information for health professionals.

The GARD Information Center does not provide genetic counseling and does not offer diagnostic testing, referrals, medical treatment or advice.
