Bereavement and Grief Counseling

The program provides counseling services for people of all ages in Los Angeles County. Services include adolescent/youth counseling, behavior modification, bereavement counseling, employee assistance programs, developmental assessment, family counseling, general counseling services, marriage counseling, perinatal/postpartum depression counseling, premarital counseling, and wrap around facilitation/community support. There are no geographic restrictions.

General counseling includes individual, conjoint, family and group counseling services to help people cope with problems and concerns of living as well as specific crises. Specific focuses may include pre-marital issues, marital problems, parent/child conflicts, children's problems in school, parenting issues, postpartum counseling, domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault or issues related to terminal illness, grief and loss.

Intensive services may include case management and home visits for young children, teen parents, families, and older adults.

The Wraparound facilitation/community support program is provided for court-referred youth in probation or in DCFS child abuse or foster care programs. Wraparound is conducted by a multi-displinary team consisting of a social worker case manager, a therapist and a parent "Partner". Sessions are conducted in the home and may involve just the child or the whole family as needed. The program accepts youth from age 8 to 18, and may continue for one year or longer. The service area is L A County SPA 3 (San Gabriel Valley).

Medi-Cal eligible youth, 0 to 18 years of age, may receive developmental assessment services and behavior modification therapy through the CHDP program.

Businesses may contract with the agency to provide counseling for their employees through an Employee Assistance Program. Employees who are referred to the general counseling program from an EAP are seen at the agency, and may participate in any counseling program that may be needed by an individual.
