The department regulates and licenses insurance companies, agents and brokers. It audits company records for financial solvency to be certain that all companies and individuals that are licensed to conduct insurance business are adhering to the California insurance code. In addition, the department enforces laws which regulate the marketing and sale of supplemental Medicare insurance.
