Grant Development Volunteer Opportunities

The agency provides volunteer opportunities to individuals living in Los Angeles County. Services include alternative dispute resolution volunteer opportunities, fundraising event volunteer opportunities, grant development volunteer opportunities, language translation/interpretation volunteer opportunities and public speaking volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions.
Alternative dispute resolution volunteers are trained by the agency to mediate conflicts and resolve disputes in their communities. Prior to becoming mediators, alternative dispute resolution volunteers must complete 25 hours of agency-provided mediation training, as well as 25 hours of volunteer mediation services. Agency training meets the mediation requirements of the California Dispute Resolution Act. Volunteers receive training in cross-cultural communication, the communication process, and communication styles and techniques. Alternative dispute resolution volunteers are required to volunteer 12 to 15 hours per week for a period of 16 weeks minimum.
Fundraising event and grant development volunteers assist the agency staff in development, grantwriting, research, fundraising and event planning. Fundraising and grant development volunteers are not required to complete special training. Fund raising and grant development volunteers are required to volunteer 8 to 10 hours per week for a period of 12 weeks.
Language translation/interpretation volunteers assist the agency with language translation. Volunteers are needed who speak any Asian or Pacific Islander languages, as well as Spanish. Language translation/interpretation volunteers are not required to complete special training. Language translation/interpretation volunteers are required to volunteer 8 to 10 hours per week for a period of 12 weeks.
Public speaking volunteers contact community and law enforcement agencies, as well as local governments, and provide marketing and public awareness services. Public speaking volunteers are not required to complete special training. Public speaking volunteers are required to volunteer 8 to 10 hours per week for a period of 12 weeks.
There are no eligibility requirements, however, most volunteers are at least 18 years of age. The agency provides any needed training. Volunteers are not required to take or pass any tests. Although the agency does not complete background checks, volunteers must submit a short application, cover letter and resume, as well as be interviewed. LANGUAGES OTHER THAN ENGLISH All Asian and Pacific Islander languages, as well as Spanish.
