Mortgage Payment Assistance

The agency provides services for active military and recently discharged military personnel in Los Angeles County. Services include mortgage payment assistance, rent payment assistance, and undesignated temporary financial assistance. There are no geographic restrictions.

Active duty enlisted military personnel must be in the pay grades of E1 through E6 to receive services. Veterans must have been honorably discharged from the military within the last 18 months to receive services.

Case Managers work closely with E1 to E6 active duty service members or recently (within the last 18 months) Honorably discharged veterans to build long-term financial self-sufficiency. The plan for improving the applicant's financial situation may include referral, warehouse visits, budgeting, and/or financial grants to stop the loss of a critical basic need.

Some covered critical basic needs that may be covered by a grant include: groceries, past due rent, past due utility bills, past due car payments, past due auto insurance payments, mechanical repair of a vehicle, baby needs (diapers, wipes, etc.) or other critical items on a case-by-case basis. Financial assistance is in the form of grants which do not need to be repaid, and are issued directly to creditors and lenders on the clients' behalf, or to the family as gift cards for food. Grants are paid directly to the creditor or may include gift cards directly to the applicant.
