Non-Emergency Crime Reporting

This is the municipal law office for the City of Los Angeles which provides law enforcement services for individuals in Los Angeles County. Services include administrative entities, City Attorney, and non-emergency crime reporting. Services are restricted to residents of the City of Los Angeles.
The department is divided into several branches which are responsible for specific services: the Criminal, Civil, and Municipal and Proprietary Branches. The office of the City Attorney also sponsors a non-emergency crime reporting hotline for neighborhood safety.
The Criminal Branch is responsible for the prosecution of misdemeanor and infraction cases within the city which involve theft, burglary, assault, battery, possession of narcotics and weapons, driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter. It also provides specialized services through the Gang Prosecution Unit, Family Violence Unit, and the Appellate Section; and administers the Victim/Witness Assistance and Dispute Resolution programs.
The Criminal Branch includes the Consumer Protection Section; The Environmental Protection Section; The Housing Enforcement Section; The Government Law and Enforcement unit; The Special Enforcement Section; the AIDS/HIV Discrimination unit; The Domestic Violence Unit ; and The Gang Prosecution Section. The city attorney's office also operates a hotline to report the release of homeless patients onto the streets by hospital employees.
The Municipal Counsel branch advises the Mayor's office, City Council, all city departments, Los Angeles International Airport, the Port of Los Angeles, and the Department of Water and Power.
