Conjoint Counseling

   The agency provides counseling services for people of all ages who live in Los Angeles County. Services include parenting classes, mental health counseling, a bereavement program for spousal and parental loss, and services for seniors. There are no geographic restrictions. 

  Counseling services include individual, conjoint, family, and group treatment for infants, children, teenagers, adults, families, and senior citizens. In addition, it offers a senior peer counseling program as an adjunct to counseling for seniors. Additionally, the center offers family therapy; marital, premarital, divorce and step-parent counseling; and counseling for children who are experiencing problems such as underachievement and truancy. 

     Bereavement groups are available for adults who have lost a significant person in their lives. The sessions help participants to understand the process of grief, to express their feelings in a supportive setting, and to develop new goals for themselves. 

   The agency also offers several programs which support children and their families and prevent emotional, academic, or social difficulties. These include early intervention and tutoring programs. The early intervention program helps children who are in the first to eighth grades who have been diagnosed as having early signs of developmental difficulties or delays in social skills. Groups which are same sexed or co-ed meet regularly after school; sessions include group play therapy. 

  Parent education seminars at the center which include information about drug and alcohol abuse, parent/child relationships, parenting skills and other topics of concern. 

  The Mindful Parenting Program serves expectant parents and parents with children under age ten. Mindful Parenting Groups address concerns such as sleeping, eating, motor development, social interactions, separations, fears, tantrums, and other challenges typical of babies and toddlers.
