Juvenile Traffic Courts

This state trial court is an L A County Superior Court with jurisdiction over criminal, domestic violence, municipal, small claims, and temporary restraining order in the cities of Inglewood, Lennox and unincorporated areas of Los Angeles. It also handles adult and juvenile traffic cases in the cities of Hawthorne and El Segundo. There are no geographic restrictions; however, the court only hears small claims cases within their jurisdiction.
The court presides over civil cases involving no more than $25, 000. It serves as a small claims court for cases involving $7,500 or less. It also has jurisdiction over criminal cases which involve misdemeanor offenses that are punishable by a fine or less than 12 months imprisonment in county jails, or both; in violations of laws and ordinances such as theft, traffic offenses and vagrancy; and conducts preliminary hearings and trials for felony offenses such as arson, burglary and murder occuring in the City of Inglewood.
The court also maintains a legal self-help center which will asssist in completing forms for civil restraining orders, unlawful detainers and civil matters.

Application Procedure
Call or walk in for service.The court no longer offers live telephone service for traffic. Individuals can pay or address their traffic issues through the website or call the automated traffic line. If the individual cannot resolve their issues through those means then they must go to the courthouse listed on their citation.
Fees
Fees vary, call or visit the agency's website for fee information. In small claims, the filing fee is $30-$75 for the first 12 filings in a 12-month period; thereafter it is $100 per filing. The fee for unlawful detainer is $180-$315.
