Health Care Referrals (Kidney Disease)

Provider: NATIONAL KIDNEY FOUNDATION OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

The foundation provides health services for people of all ages in Southern California. Services include disease/disability information on kidney disease, health care referrals, organ donor cards and support services. There are no geographic restrictions.

Staff provide telephone information and printed materials including a comprehensive 180 page handbook about kidney disease. People may find out about the medical and financial aspects of kidney disease, local dialysis facilities, kidney stones, transplantation and other issues. Educational conferences for people with kidney failure and those who anticipate kidney failure are also available.

Referrals are provided to dialysis facilities nationwide.

A donor card program is offered to encourage the donation of kidneys and other vital organs.

Support services for patients include one-time only grants for food, medication, utilities and transportation; and summer camp programs for youth ages nine to 18 who are beginning treatment, are on dialysis, or who have had transplants.
