Parent Child Interactive Therapy

The agency provides mental health services for youth ages birth to 21 in Los Angeles county. Services include mental health evaluations, parent child interactive therapy (PCIT) and trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT); services are court-accepted. Age restrictions apply; there are no geographic restrictions.

The program includes assessment; individual, family or group therapy; crisis intervention and medication support and targeted case management.

PCIT is an evidence based program for young children who may have serious behavioral problems such as aggressiveness, defiance, temper tantrums and oppositional behavior. Therapy focuses on improving parent-child interaction patterns to reduce the possibility of physical abuse.

TF-CBT is a short term treatment for children and adolescents who are experiencing significant emotional and behavioral difficulties related to traumatic life events; it is a conjoint model with parents or caregivers.
