Neighborhood Revitalization (At Risk Adults, Young Adults)

The program provides job training programs for at risk young adults, ages 18 to 24 in the West area of Los Angeles. Services include job training formats, leadership development and neighborhood revitalization. The geographic service area is restricted to the west area of Los Angeles, primarily the Venice and Mar Vista communities.

The program Venice YouthBuild provides on-site pre-apprenticeship construction training at low-income apartment and housing developments in disadvantaged areas of Los Angeles. Participants are trained in construction trade skills. They receive pay while in training, free use of tools and are mentored by a journeyman level adult. The length of the program may be up to 12 months.The program also has a green construction training program.

While in training, participants work on academic skills at the on-site charter school and leadership development. Leadership training includes self-esteem and communication skill building. Support services for participants include assistance with transportation and child care, case management, and referrals for counseling services.
