Government Boards/Commissions Volunteer Opportunities
Provider: CITY OF LOS ANGELES DEPARTMENT OF NEIGHBORHOOD EMPOWERMENT - NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCILS
The Councils provide government services to the people of Los Angeles. Services include neighborhood improvement as well as government volunteer opportunities. Each of the 90 Neighborhood Councils in the 12 geographic Council Areas are government bodies created by local stakeholders in each neighborhood and are designed to promote public participation in city government and make it more responsive to local needs.
The Neighborhood Councils advise the Los Angeles City Council on issues of concern to each community. Each Neighborhood Council is made up of local stakeholders in that neighborhood, which may include anyone that lives, works or owns a business or residential property within the boundaries of the Neighborhood Council. Stakeholders also include schools, religious organizations and non-profit agencies.
