Volunteer Opportunities (Older Adults)

The hospital provides services for older adults. Services include mental health services, telephone reassurance and volunteer opportunities. There are no geographic restrictions. Age restrictions apply for some services.
Mental health services are available to adults age 55 and older. Services include inpatient treatment which consists of an evaluation; individual, family and group counseling; and therapy. Support services include crisis intervention, individual assistance for patients and their families and case management.
Seniors who have serious health problems and who live alone may wish to apply for the Emergency Alert Response System (EARS) which links the person through a 24 hour paging system to San Pedro Peninsula Hospital. In an emergency, the person can signal for help through a paging unit s/he wears.

Call or walk in for information or service. Contact the admitting desk to request an interpreter.
Fees
There are fixed fees for most services which vary; Medi-Cal, Medicare and private insurance are accepted. There are no fees for telephone reassurance or for some health education services.
