The program provides housing services for people who live in Los Angeles County and throughout the United States. Services include homebuyer/home purchase counseling, mortgage delinquency and default counseling, and specialized information and referral for housing related issues. There are no geographic restrictions.
This is a housing counseling agency, NOT a lender. It does not offer refinancing services, down payment assistance, or provide loans. The agency cannot force a mortgage company to eliminate debt, forgive payments or dictate solutions.
Through its hotline and website, the agency helps homeowners avoid foreclosure by providing HUD-approved counselors who are experts in foreclosure prevention. Counselors provide education and support that assists callers in overcoming immediate financial issues. Counseling services include foreclosure prevention counseling, post-mortgage modification support, reverse mortgage counseling, housing resource counseling, and rental counseling resources.
The agency can also connect callers with local nonprofit resources for additional assistance.

Application Procedure
Call or visit the website for service. Most counseling services are provided over the phone. Callers should try to have a list of the major bills they pay every month at hand when they call, most importantly, their mortgage payment statement complete with their mortgage loan number.
Fees
There are no fees for information services. There are fixed fees for counseling services; call for specific information.
