Child Abuse Prevention

The CARINO (Child Abuse Risk Intervention and Neighborhood Outreach) program is part of First 5 LA's Partnerships for Families child abuse prevention program. It provides services to DCFS referred families with children 0-5 years of age and high-risk pregnant females with any of the following risk factors: mental health, substance abuse and/or domestic violence. Services are restricted to residents of SPA 3.
Services include emergency basic support services, intensive services for special needs, domestic violence, substance abuse and/or mental health, early education and child care. Counseling, parenting skills development classes, information and referral for community resources and case management are also provided. Services vary by location.
