The comprehensive outpatient alcohol and drug use disorder treatment program is a six-month recovery program which includes individual counseling, education/prevention presentations on substance abuse and on family issues, and discussion of relapse and relapse triggers. The program includes participation in twelve-step groups. There are groups for adolescents and for adults. The VISTA program of outpatient counseling and education accepts referrals from court-ordered Proposition 36, the Department of Probation, the DCFS, and Employee Assistance programs.

Alcohol and drug use disorder counseling is available for individuals, families, and groups. People attend counseling weekly for 3 to 12 months; treatment needs are re-evaluated throughout the process. The agency also provides a program for people in recovery from chemical dependency. Classes are held weekly. Subjects include Phases of Recovery, Deactivation of Craving, Preparing for Stressful Situations, Assessing Your Social Life, AIDS: Issues for Recovering Addicts, and others. Sessions are one hour to one and one-half hours in length.

The agency provides alcohol and drug use disorder education/prevention through speakers for community groups, printed materials, films, trainings for staff of other agencies, and school curricula. Some materials are available for purchase. A special program, AASUL (Assistance with Alcohol and Sobriety Uniting Latinas), focuses on educating Latina/Hispanic women about alcohol abuse through bilingual media spots, printed materials, conferences and seminars.
